ByteDance names new global head of R&D at TikTok: sources
BEIJING (Reuters) – ByteDance, based in Beijing, wants to move its Chinese news aggregator Jinri Toutiao, Zhu Wenjia, to Singapore to lead research and global growth for its popular TikTok short video service, two familiar people said.
The job is new and will be TikTok's first senior R&D position.
Zhu is responsible for the product and technology of the app, including its suggested algorithms, the people said.
He will parallel TikTok's interim leader, Vanessa Pappas, and report to ByteDance founder and CEO, Zhang Yiming.
ByteDance refused to comment on this.
The sources have not been named because the details is not available.
