Greece tops 500 daily COVID-19 infections for first time
ATHENS (Reuters) – The health authorities said on Friday that they were calling for compliance with mask wearing and social remoteness 508 coronavirus infections were reported in Greece which were up to 500 for the first time.
Of the 508 new cases, 227 in Athens and 63 in Thessaloniki, the second largest city of that region, have been registered.
The epidemic murdered eight people.
"We were diagnosed with more than 500 coronavirus for the first time," Gikas Magiorkinis, an epidemiologist, said.
"The decrease in temperatures will shift equilibrium and improve the pattern in epidemiology."
In the aftermath of the EU summit in Brussels, Greek Premier Kyriakos Mitsotakis once claimed that Greece was always a stronger nation in Europe.
"But if we do not comply with the prescribed steps, it will alter at any given moment," he added.
The nation is still in a stable state, Deputy Minister for Civil Protection Nikos Hardalias said, "But this is especially poor stability"
"We need not to be complacent," she said, "anything that occurs in Europe.
