SaskTel reduces cellphone charges for travellers

Sasktel has dropped the cost of using your cellphone in the U.S. & several other countries.

Effective Nov. 26, 2015, the new rates for its Roam & Relax travel plan in the U.S will be $0.07 per megabyte & $0.07 per minute for voice calls.

As well, international data rates in Mexico, Netherlands, Australia, Portugal, Bermuda & Costa Rica have been reduced to only $1 per megabyte. Data previously cost up to $15 per megabyte.

The company said the rates are options for travellers who are away for short to medium time frames & will be automatically applied to their plans when they cross the border.

It will moreover offer add-on travel plans for those who are travelling for longer periods of time.

"Although we already have tremendous smartphone plans offering unlimited U.S. texting, our customers told us they require the same level of connectivity when they travel as they have at home," Ron Styles, SaskTel President & CEO said in a news release.
