Pigeons are set to go on the pill in one Spanish town.
Councillors in Badia del Vallès have voted to feed the birds with a special contraceptive in a bid to bring soaring numbers down.
The Catalan politicians want to slash the breed’s population by 80% in the next four or five years.
The feathered animals will be fed with Ovistop – essentially corn kernels coated with bird birth control drug nicarbazin.
It will be distributed during the height of this year’s breeding season, from July until September.
Officials said that a pair of pigeons can produce 48 descendants in just one year, according to El Mundo.
