Press Trust of India reported at least four deaths in the region due to flooding & stormy weather since Thursday. Three areas, the Jammu & Kashmir region in the Himalayas & West Bengal & Andhra Pradesh states on the eastern coast, have had an excess of rain so far this monsoon season. The India Meteorological Department says monsoon rainfall in June & early July has been 7 percent below normal around the country, with the most deficient states mainly in the southwest.
