David Brazil says he won't enter federal election race

Minister of Transportation & Works David Brazil says he won't leave provincial politics in Newfoundland & Labrador to run federally in the October election.

Brazil's name showed up in a recent telephone poll of constituents in the federal riding of St. John's East.

Jack Harris is the NDP candidate & incumbent in the upcoming race. Nick Whalen is running for the Liberals & the poll listed Brazil's name as an option for the Conservatives.

Brazil says he's not sure how his name was included yet says he's unquestionably not running federally.

He said he will be the PC candidate in the Nov. 30 provincial election for his current district riding of Conception Bay East-Bell Island.

The federal Conservatives still don't have a candidate for St. John's East for the federal election, which is scheduled for Oct. 15.
